My Saviour

He said “Rapunzel! Rapunzel!
Let down your hair.
So that I can save you from up there”
I said “No! I’m not a damsel in distress.
I’m a warrior princess.”
You see, he looked at me like I was another,
A princess with some sort of fairy godmother.
But I am not like those girls in the books,
Defenceless and idolised by their looks.
I am strong and beautiful in a special way,
Relying on my Heavenly Father to save the day.
No knight in shining armour or Prince Charming can compare
To the One who saves me from all of evil’s snares.
He laid down His life for me on a rugged cross,
Tore the veil and showed Satan who’s boss.
Now I might sit in a tower far away
And there might be dragons around me for the slay.
But I am not helpless or unable to pick up my sword.
Because the power I have does not come from the world.
I draw my supernatural strength from Yahweh,
The one true King.
So I sit in a faraway tower singing praises to Him.
