Boy mom

Shalom beloveds

Raising a son in today’s generation must be a whole different ball game, compared to yesterday’s generation. Firstly, kids were taught to be seen and not heard. Boys were taught not to cry or show any emotions. Secondly, society taught children that when a boy is mean to or ‘play fight’ with a girl, the he likes her. Bizarre, right? Well that was the norm not so long ago. It’s no wonder many of those boys grow up with the reality that it’s okay to hurt a girl in order to show her that you care or love her. Eventually, a lot of these boys grow up to be angry and/or abusive men who cannot communicate their emotions healthily. Today boys are exposed to a lot of inappropriate male behavior. Most video games, movies, music, etc are violent, vulgar or sexualised. How can parents raise a child let alone a son in our society without letting them slip away into the dark side of this world? How do you raise your son to be a gentleman, yet bold enough to stand his ground? How can you raise him to share his feelings and be in tune with his emotions, yet still confident in his masculinity? I spoke to two moms who are raising wonderful young gentlemen. One mom is a strong single mother and the other is a happily married mother. Each of them live through two different realities of raising a son, but both are fierce ‘boy moms’. These boys may very well be the next future leaders of their generation. Stay tuned to read their stories!

Thank you for reading, till next time…

Peace and blessings in Yeshua!
