Shalom beloveds
Have you ever gone into the natural world ‘guns ablazing’ with the attempt to tackle the obstacles life throws at you? If so, was it easy? Did you win the battle? I think we can all say a big fat “no” to these questions. Not only this, but the opposition can look quite intimidating. This happens when we put on foreign armour. Foreign armour is heavy, strange, and difficult to carry around and to wear. This kind of armour includes, pride, stubbornness, ego, impatience and all the things YHWH does not have in His will for us. Foreign armour does not come close to the Father’s armour. The armour of man (the world) weighs us down but the armour of God (our shepherd) lifts us up. David knew that what he had all along (his slingshot and confidence in God) was all he needed to defeat Goliath. He knew that the Lord and His armies were on His side, even though Goliath and the rest of the men in David’s presence did not see (in the natural) the army of God themselves. There will be times in your life when nobody might believe in your confidence in God, but you will have to continue to stand firm on your trust in Him and your strength built on Him, in order to win the battles life throws at you and the giants that come at you. What we need to hold onto is our roots planted firmly in our Creator and in who He is, because He is our defender and without Him we cannot win any battle on our own. So always put on the armour of YHWH, stay embedded in His Word and walk across valleys to fight the giants with your ‘sling’ and ‘shepherds staff’.
“Then Saul clothed David with his own garb, put a bronze helmet on his head, and clothed him in armor. David strapped his sword on his garment and tried to walk, but he was not used to it. So David said to Saul, “I cannot walk in these, for I am not used to them.” So David took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the valley, put them in the pocket of the shepherd’s bag that he had, and with his sling in his hand, he approached the Philistine”. (1 Samuel 17:38-40 TLV)
