Shalom beloveds
In biblical times people treated leper’s like unwanted outsiders. They were segregated from the rest of society. People didn’t touch a leper, go close to a leper or even breathe in the same air as the leper. They kept their distance as far as possible and chased the leper’s away from them. Leper’s were treated as unclean and defiled. This kind of makes one think of the recent pandemic with social distancing, wearing masks, quarantine, not allowing unclean surfaces to be touched without disinfecting it as well as staying far away from people who are infected with COVID-19. Although the Corona virus is nothing compared to leprosy, the fact remains, it’s an illness that most of us are afraid of. We run far away from the possibility of being infected ourselves.
But there is a Healer who is able to touch the bodies, the hearts and the lives of so many infected- the “leper’s” of our time. There is a physician whose healing embrace is so powerful it can travel through garments, and with faith as small as a mustard seed. A man who bore the stripes on His back to win our healing, our forgiveness and the victory. He is the Messiah. His name is Yeshua (Jesus Christ) and He invites you to a seat at His table. He isn’t going to chase you away like the Pharisees and society did to the leper’s. He is calling you and He is saying “come, you CAN sit with us”. Your healing lies with Him, now go to Him and be healed and sin no more.
